Toyota has announced that the company is considering to stop making cars in Vietnam, turned to export cars from other ASEAN countries to Vietnam.
Yoshihisa Maruta Toyota Vietnam branch president, said last year the Vietnamese government has announced that it will abolish import tariffs on cars for the ASEAN countries since 2018 (currently the Vietnamese government to impose a 50% import tariff car), this means that vehicle imports from Thailand lower than the cost of domestic cars assembled in the country. Currently the main branch of Toyota Vietnam imported auto parts from other countries, and then assembled in the country. Insiders said, the car manufacturers, than in Vietnam assembling cars, imported cars from Southeast Asia and other countries more "profitable."
Last year, Toyota's sales in Vietnam of an upgrade 24% to 41,205, of which 34,778 domestic assembly in the country.
